Our Family

The proud owner of Rochon Garden, Gerry has known vegetable farming his entire life.  He is the back bone of all the growing that happens at Rochon Garden. Gerry coordinates every aspect of seeding, planting and transplanting for the entire farm. He must also ensure that all fruits and vegetables in the field get the right amount of nutrition & water and that all produce is harvested at just the right time.

Also a proud owner of Rochon Garden, Diane has been in the Rochon family and involved in farming since a young age when her and Gerry first met. Diane is a crucial part of the planning process, from seeding, to greenhouse planting, to coordinating all of our markets.  She also plants her flower combinations with assorted colors and varieties to fascinate any enthusiast.

Diane and Gerry’s oldest son, Kristian, works on the Rochon Garden CSA program and drop off locations during the week and on weekends works at some of the weekend market: Kanata Farmers Market on Saturdays and Lansdowne Park location on Sundays. Kristian also likes to volunteer his time to organising the Kanata Farmers Market.

Diane and Gerry’s youngest son, Jonathan, is very passionate about farming.  He helps out Gerry on the family farm doing all the seeding, transplanting & picking of the vegetables.  He also coordinates the Pick-Your-Own Strawberry patch.  Jonathan wants to learn the family business with hopes of someday operating it as his own.

Jeremy Schell is the nephew of Gerry and Diane. He can be found managing the Byward Market in the summer and fixing just about anything around the farm in the off season. Jeremy has worked for Rochon Gardens for many years and is a valuable asset to our farm.

Long-time family friend, Viki, started with the Rochon Garden family helping Diane at the By Ward market.  She has since moved closer to the farm to help out with Greenhouse seeding and planting.  She is in charge of the Parkdale Market booth that runs 7 days a week for the season which is no easy task.

Gerry’s sister in-law, Cheryl, has been running the Rochon Garden booth at the Metcalfe Farmers Market for many years.  She prides herself on offering a personalized customer service knowing most of the residents in Metcalfe.

Pete Rochon, Gerry’s brother, is part of the Rochon team planting in the greenhouses in the spring and doing our CSA vegetables boxes and distribution in the summer time. Pete also manages our Orleans market booth on Fridays.

Julie Rochon, Kristian’s Wife, enjoys helping the family on weekends at various farmers markets whenever possible. Julie keeps busy taking care of the newest addition to the Rochon Family Émilie as well as working in the city.

Émilie, Kristian and Julie’s Daughter, likes to help out at the market, especially selling corn.
